Jewels of Tangaroa - Patterns of life I, 570x190 unframed, Oil intaglio print on Fabriano
Perhaps I should have named this one patience, because it took a lot of patience to make this print.
Only one print plate was used, just one of the jewels of Tangaroa. Only one pencil mark was made for measuring. Every time I inked up the plate, I carefully placed it on paper, gently shifting it until it was perfectly lined up, carefully laying the felt over it, and almost holding my breath as i turned the cylinder, hoping that the plate would not slip out of place. As the pattern grew, so did the tension.
So the pattern of life, the pattern of breath, emerged from the jewels of Tangaroa.
